A beautifully branded commercial in the can in 13 days

If anyone knows how to make selling software fun and playful, it’s the team over at Zendesk. I was delighted to be brought on as a producer for their Sales Suite commercial. As is often the nature with productions, we were on a bit of a time crunch...

Prep & Production -  From the call where I accepted the job, to 13 days later when we were shooting, I secured releases, crew, gear, wardrobe, props, set pieces, talent, and background actors, all between dozens of meetings & calls to ensure that the look and brand were supported in every element on set. It was beautiful to watch so much come together in such a short amount of time.

Secret Personal Victory This video put my personal & professional network outreach into overdrive with great success. Don’t tell Zendesk, but I had never produced a commercial in their city prior to this project.

The good folks at Edios Media brought me on board to help tackle the creation of over 300 unique videos for Google’s IT Automation with Python Professional Certificate. This was an exciting behemoth of a project aimed at tackling the IT skills gap through an accessible online course.

Prep & Production - This project required 6 months of prep,  project managing multiple teams across the globe. My primary focus was distilling all logistics from the 300 scripts and driving them into tangibility, as well as overseeing the production of hundreds of unique animations. The spreadsheets created to track the sheer volume of assets on this project were truly a work of art.

Success! This certificate earned a 4.8 out of 5 rating from over 17K global viewers.  As of April 2020 the program has enrolled over 140,000 learners, 57% of which did not have a college degree.

A commercial mid-pandemic

I added my first sports badge to my producer sash when Vicis asked me to take on a campaign of three videos showcasing their latest football helmet.

Vicis had been working on their new helmet too long and too hard for a worldwide pandemic to stop their release, so we had to get creative on how to capture the content safely without jeopardizing quality or the budget.

Prep & Production - We sourced locations that would keep the crew safe while also elevating the content, and coordinated with every person on the call sheet to ensure they were tested for COVID prior to coming to set. While filming, we provided ample PPP gear and had hawk-eyes on COVID compliance, ensuring safety while the crew worked their magic.

Goal! In the end, the videos were gorgeous, the client was happy, the budget was on-point, and, most importantly, the crew remained COVID-free.

I earned my black belt in producing at a start-up called CreativeLive; we created live-streamed educational content for creatives. I started as their first producer and was responsible for driving show logistics and running the floor for multi-day Photoshoots, which were recorded and edited for online courses...all while broadcasting live.

Yeah, I still have to squint when I think back on it, too.

Six years later I was the “Senior Executive Producer of Post and Production Operations.” The title was, admittedly, a bit of a mouthful, but in this position, I oversaw 4 studios across 2 cities, monthly six-figure budgets, 40+ crew, and led high-level partnership projects. We produced thousands of classes, tens of thousands of hours of content, and grew an audience of millions.

New tricks! For years I was purely a logistics Producer, but after spending 8 years working with some of the best in the creative education arena, I picked up a thing or three about how to entertain and teach on-screen. I have been delighted to add this hat to my collection.

Extreme course building

As an avid outdoor enthusiast, I just about fell off my seat when Roam Media asked me to produce a handful of courses that taught outdoor and adventure skills.

Content & Prep - It was important to hit that sweet spot of teaching while entertaining. No meandering PowerPoint presentations here, every word of these classes was intentional, power-packed, and supported by beautiful archival imagery.

I worked with some of the greatest names in the outdoors to pull years of experience, hard-learned lessons, and intuition out of the instructor's head, into a course outline, and onto camera. Then collaborated with crews across the globe to get the right locations, support and equipment to do these courses justice.

As the pandemic shut down film sets and workplaces across the globe, Edios Media tagged me in to help develop a solution for their Fortune 100 clients who needed to continue training and communicating with their team and clients throughout the pandemic.

By June 2020, we had developed a fool-proof filming setup inside a travel-proof case that was jet-setting across the Atlantic on its maiden voyage. We safely captured hundreds of high-quality, 4K videos from all across the globe. All the talent needed was our handy kit, a wifi connection, and an hour of set-up time.

The result? The clients were thrilled with the final video. The talent was pleased with the ease of set-up (I will venture to say that a few of them told us it was "fun"), and Edios went on to build an arsenal of these video kits for their clients. Take that, Pandemic!

2.Demo stage.png

The Portrait Masters Photography Conference wanted to try something a little different. This year, they wanted to live-stream their photography demos to reach an audience far beyond the conference walls.

Pre-production & Production - I worked with dozens of photographers and companies including Canon, Sony, Nikon and B&H to help craft demos that would be set up for success in this unique environment, engaging both the in-room audience and the audience at home. Then an all-star crew and I dove into the Olympics of broadcasting as the event went live; creating a seamless experience for viewers at home as we flipped the stage from one photo set-up to the next, pulling in unique models, props, sets cameras and lighting equipment for every demo, every 20 minutes, without ever turning off the cameras. *Phew!*

Cheers! By the last demo, our stage had received tens of thousands of unique views. After much high-fiving, handshaking and a bottomless pint of beer at the wrap party, I was asked by the conference to come back the following year.
